The Magnificent Hermitage is a unique multimedia exhibition that offers a journey through the interiors and collections of the Hermitage. The exhibition premiered at TSEH in Nizhny Novgorod and will run until October 20, 2024 with technical support from dreamlaser.

The digital exhibition is powered by state-of-the-art multimedia technologies, including 3D mapping, AV installations, holograms, and AI. These technologies provide an opportunity to experience the renowned interiors, paintings, sculptures, and decorative art pieces. Some of the exhibits are of such immense cultural value that they may never leave the walls of the museum. This multimedia project makes these treasures accessible to viewers far beyond St. Petersburg.

The exhibition is divided into five sections:

The journey begins with an artistic mapping projection on a 1:30 scale model of the Winter Palace façade, created specifically for this project.

The next room is dedicated to the interiors of the Hermitage. Large LED screens and high-resolution images create an immersive experience that makes the halls of the museum seem to move around the viewer. An audio guide, narrated by People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Burov and theater and film actress Anna Geller, recounts the story of the iconic Jordan Staircase and other interior elements of the palace.

Next, visitors encounter a large 180-degree panoramic display of the artistic masterpieces that attract people from all over the world to the Hermitage.

In the fourth room, holograms offer volumetric images of sculptures. This technology conveys the shape and texture of the works with remarkable precision.

The final room is interactive. Here, visitors can interact with characters from famous paintings who come to life and move. Viewers can also "paint" the Hermitage in colors and patterns inspired by the artists whose works are housed in the museum.

The exhibition is organized at the initiative of the State Hermitage Museum with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
