On February 26, the exhibition "Light and Music. The Experimental Aesthetics of the USSR and New Media" opened at the Tseh Space. It is dedicated to the early media art festivals in the USSR and the first technological experiments in synthesizing light and sound. The exhibition's core is based on the activities of the student design bureau "Prometey" and the developments of artist Sergei Zorin, which were presented at light-music festivals in the 1960s-1980s.
The exhibition features ten installations arranged in a special architecture from dreamlaser, emphasizing the ideas and design features of the exhibits. The reconstructed and preserved art objects immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the past and show the evolution of audiovisual technologies.
Furthermore, dreamlaser presented a new installation created in collaboration with composer Nikolai Popov (Center for Electroacoustic Music). The work "Resonance of Presence" is inspired by the ideas of synesthesia and the history of the former printing workshop of Nizhpoligraf, where Tseh Space is now located. Interacting with the installation, viewers can hear echoes of the old atmosphere.
The project continues the program of the Intervals Festival, focusing on the origins of digital culture.
Exhibition curators: Anna Gagarina, Kirill Mayevsky, Anastasia Maksimova.
Organizers: Tseh Space, dreamlaser, Smena Center for Contemporary Culture, Galeev-Prometey Foundation, and Zorin-Art Center. With the support of the "Team of Creative Practices."
The exhibition will run from February 26 to April 5. Plan your visit via this link.
