For the first VK Fest in Nizhny Novgorod, dreamlaser took multimedia art out onto the water, creating a large-scale installation on a barge in the middle of the Volga River.
The project was an experiment in both technology and logistics. To bring the installation to life, our team had to source a diesel engine and work with the wind, the river current, and the challenges of operating a large-scale LED structure on the water. The installation was positioned at Strelka, the iconic spot where the Oka and Volga rivers meet, and remained on view for a week ahead of the festival, which opened on July 11.
Alongside the barge installation, dreamlaser provided the technical production for the VK Fest main stage, incorporating:
• 450 m² of LED screens
• more than 240 lighting fixtures
The festival’s educational program also featured Denis Chuchko, dreamlaser co-founder and Commercial Director. Together with Vladimir Kristovsky, Katya Golden, and Sergey Ukhanov, he took part in a discussion about the development of Nizhny Novgorod and the ways the city has shaped their professional journeys and success.
