The 8th international media art festival INTERVALS will run in Nizhny Novgorod on April 24-27, 2025. Intervals Festival is the first and the largest international event around media art in Russia. The 2025 festival is going to be organized by dreamlaser.

This year the festival is holding an open call and the finalists' works will be shown at the city's media exhibition as part of IF'25.

INTERVALS Open Calls are an opportunity for young media artists to boost their visibility to the public and industry professionals as well as to get a significant case for their portfolio. Most importantly, this enables them to present their work to the INTERVALS audience of thousands as part of a media exhibition in one of Russia's most beautiful cities, alongside famous authors from around the world.

Trajectories will be the topic of INTERVALS in 2025. Open call participants are invited to reflect on this in their work. What are trajectories? Connections, lines, routes that are literally woven into the fabric of the city. Every day we solve problems, come up with ideas, build routes and set new trajectories in our lives to influence the map of trajectories of the whole city. While intervals are empty spaces between points, trajectories are the lines that connect them. Media art serves as the link between people, city, and ideas at INTERVALS.

The IF Pulse Open Call will have two tracks — Mappings and Installations. Below is the information about each.

Mapping

Open call timeline:
• December 10 – February 15 — applications accepted (a 30-second teaser of the work is required)
• until March 1 — works shortlisted (up to 15 in total) to be shown at the festival
• April 26 — winners announced following the jury's review at INTERVALS 2025.

Installations

Open call timeline:
• December 10 – February 15 — applications accepted (installation concept and technical specifications are required)
• until March 1 — finalists selected whose works will be shown at the INTERVALS media exhibition
• March 1 — winners announced

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Open Call.
