On August 15–19, 2024, the Kaluga Region will host another Signal festival that traditionally brings together electronic music and contemporary art. For this event specifically, dreamlaser is going to rethink one of the local objets d'art and to decorate the festival's main stage.
The main stage design was inspired by string theory stating that the universe is built of tiny vibrating strings of energy. The dreamlaser's setup represents the universe in its endless, never-ending dance.
"All the elements of the setup work together like strings that never stop vibrating and link the whole space around them," says Ekaterina Guseva, head of the concept department at dreamlaser.
To bring this idea to life, a LED screen will be complemented with strobes, lasers will work in unison with LED sticks on kinetic winches to transform the space and make the structure agile and dynamic.
The second location is a 12-meter high landmark in the village of Nikola-Lenivets, the Arch made by the Bernaskoni architectural bureau in 2012. Located just between a forest and a field, like a metaphorical portal from one dimension to another, the Arch will be decorated with LED zoom bars inside the structure.
In this case, the light makes play with the architectural features of the structure itself, allowing it to be seen in a new way. "As darkness falls, light starts seeping through the many holes, thus creating an illusion of sunlight penetrating through the dense foliage of the trees. Each ray coming out of the holes seems to bring the architectural object to life, lending it some sort of magical glow," says Ekaterina Guseva.
